Rick Mantei is a Long-Time Donor to Epworth Children’s Home

For more than 20 years, Rick Mantei has generously supported the Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia, SC, donating over $20,000 to help support children in need.

Epworth Children’s Home was established in 1895 by the South Carolina Annual Conference of what is now the United Methodist Church. Children arrive at Epworth through private and government placements as the result of abuse, neglect or significant loss. Over 70 staff members see to the children’s emotional, physical, educational and spiritual needs, and an individual plan is developed for each child. Epworth’s goal is to break the cycle of abuse, neglect and shame and replace it with an opportunity for a better life. Each year, nearly 80% of the general operating budget needed to provide this level of care comes from the generous giving of congregations, businesses, and individuals such as Mantei. Each generous gift ensures that every child receives the basics of food and shelter; even more importantly, it provides the resources needed for spiritual direction, counseling and therapy, education and cottage parents to guide the children through their journeys to a brighter future.
